Company History
Knowing our history will give you an idea of where we came from, but it is what we intend doing in the future that is probably more important
The Macdonald Group & the Tuff Floors Story
The Macdonald Group, a family-owned group of Companies, has its roots in the manufacture and printing on metal some 60 years ago. From that base we have grown through the development of specialised manufacturing techniques targeting niche markets.
Consequently, we have enjoyed success in the manufacture and supply of a significant number of industrial products including industrial labelling, printed and decorated appliance trim ware, payphone panels and metal containers.
During the late 1990’s the Macdonald Group acquired an operation recycling flexible PVC materials into raw material which was sold into the shoe Industry. The desire to add value to our product resulted in the purchasing of our first injection moulding machine for the toll manufacturing of traditional PVC industrial floor tiles.
After visiting a number of international flooring exhibitions with no success in finding better industrial flooring, we designed a new product incorporating the liquid resistant seal and a hidden tile interlock. This invention received international patents which were registered in the USA, UK and South Africa. This product was called TuffSeal™.
Tuff Floors (Africa) was formed and soon developed into a major supplier of industrial flooring in the region.
